report;Zack Martin (thigh) and Tyron Smith (back) are listed as DNPs for the Cowboys.NFL: Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers

The Dallas Cowboys’ Wednesday injury report is available here. A few players on the offensive line are DNPs.

The Dallas Cowboys are down but still in the hunt after an embarrassing blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Cowboys are still atop the NFC East thanks to some assistance from the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Ws are the most important numbers for the Cowboys if they want to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in the division, but they still need some assistance numerically. The Cowboys will get a win ahead of the Eagles’ Christmas matchup with the New York Giants and boost their confidence heading into a postseason push if they can defeat the Dolphins on Christmas Eve in Miami. Unfortunately, following their first practice of the week, the Cowboys’ health isn’t exactly optimal.

Dallas rested a number of its veterans to start the week, as they usually do, and on Wednesday they either limited or benched a number of players. Jourdan Lewis, Stephon Gilmore, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Brandin Cooks are a few examples of these guys. Rico Dowdle was sidelined by an injury to his ankle. Tyron Smith also missed practice due to an unspecified back injury, the severity of which is unknown. Zack Martin did not participate in team drills on Wednesday after leaving the game last week due to a thigh ailment. Malik Hooker and Jonathan Hankins were also not practicing due to ankle problems. Tony Pollard, on the other hand, participated fully despite being classified as having a thumb injury.

The injury report for the Dolphins is as lengthy as a Christmas list. They didn’t practice with their starting five offensive lineman. Xavien Howard, Raheem Mostert, De’Von Achane, and a well-known individual joined them as DNPs.

Tyreek Hill, an All-Pro wide receiver, was injured during practice on Wednesday. Hill missed last week’s game against the New York Jets due to an ankle injury sustained against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14. The Dolphins are hopeful that Hill will be able to play on Sunday.

Some people think the Dallas Cowboys are a “soft” team, whether that’s true or not. Whether it’s true or not, the organization doesn’t want to use it as a benchmark or aspiration. Rather, they would much rather be recognized as a squad that plays with a certain swagger and attitude and is physically intimidating. Though as of yet it hasn’t truly spread throughout the lineup, there are a few players like Jake Ferguson who kind of personify these traits. Perhaps that can come true sooner rather than later with a little assistance from Santa Claus. They might benefit from an energy boost while traveling to the Super Bowl.
