What does Oshae Brissett need earn to do earn a bigger role with the Boston Celtics to win the game …

What does Oshae Brissett bring to the Boston Celtics?

Why isn’t Oshae Brissett, a reserve forward for the Boston Celtics, playing more? Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report wonders why the team hasn’t relied more on Brissett so far this season, given that the team’s forward rotation is somewhat sparse following the twin All-NBA stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum of Boston.

Buckley notes that Britsett “has been unable to work himself into the nightly mix.” “It seems more like he hasn’t been given the opportunity to pass or fail; he hasn’t exactly failed his assignment.” And maybe it has more to do with how he has performed than with whether he hasn’t improved the team’s performance when given a chance. Brissett has shot 44.0% from the field overall and only 19.5% from beyond the arc, providing “loads of energy and defense but almost zero offense.”

With the Celtics this season, they are 27.3% from beyond the arc.

Is Brissett’s focus elsewhere sufficient to justify another run and, ideally, turn around that shot?

Given that Lamar Stevens is the only deep rotation wing on Boston’s roster to hit at least a third of his triples, Mazzulla is likely to offer Dalano Banton, Svi Mykhailiuk, and the Syracuse graduate little playing time going forward.

However, Brissett might contribute to the rotation if he can maintain the same level of effectiveness from his third and second seasons, when he connected on 42.3% and 35% of deep balls on volume, respectively.
