SAD NEWS ;NEW YORK YANKEE COACH IS DEADMLB: Yankees bringing back manager Aaron Boone for 3 more years, per report

OF Estevan Florial is traded by the Cleveland Guardians to the New York Yankees in exchange for RHP Cody Morris.

For many years, the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians have been bitter rivals. Teams may, however, occasionally ignore that in order to focus on their own areas of need.

That’s precisely what transpired as the two parties concluded a trade on Tuesday afternoon. The Guardians declared that they will trade OF Estevan Florial to the Yankees for RHP Cody Morris.

It’s no secret that Cleveland has an abundance of starting pitchers but also needs assistance in the outfield. On the other hand, despite possessing a large outfield, New York needs more pitchers.

That is, of course, precisely how trades take place.

Morris, who played for Cleveland for the previous six seasons, is leaving the team. Despite all of the excitement and possibility that surrounded him as a prospect, he sadly struggled with maintaining his health.

Over his two-season career, Morris has made 13 appearances (five starts), with a 3.41 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. Strangely, he had three strikeouts in two perfect innings pitched against the Yankees in the 2022 ALDS, which was one of his best moments thus far in his young career.

In exchange, Florial gives the Guardians greater depth in the outfield. Since 2020, the 26-year-old has participated in 48 major league games. With an OPS of.609, he has a career slash line of.209/.313/.296.

Florial joins an outfield in Cleveland that, going into the 2024 season, is full of unknowns. Myles Straw: Will he play every day? Will center fielder Steven Kwan move over? What role does Will Brennan have in this whole thing? Where will the playing time go for Ramon Laureano?
