SAD NWES; pittsburgh steelers receive a sad news their head coach was so sick that can not come to the match due to ….
The head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers is not fired. It’s not how they do it. Since 1968, they have not fired a coach.
Perhaps Mike Tomlin ought to feel grateful for that.
Although Tomlin’s career has been amazing, the Steelers’ last five games have been a complete disaster. The Steelers fell to the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals at home in some way. This season, those teams have a 4-20 record versus the rest of the NFL.The first half was dull and the Steelers went behind 21-3. Though Pittsburgh was unable to come back for a victory, the Patriots are a terrible club and were unable to shut out the Steelers. With their 21-18 victory over the Steelers on Thursday night, the Patriots raised their record to 3-10. Like it has been for the bulk of the season, Pittsburgh’s offense was awful. Although the defense shut out the Patriots in the second half, it was unexpected that they scored 21 points in the first half. It demonstrated how unprepared and uninteresting the Steelers appeared.
Last Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers were 7-4 before start. It seems like everyone, even the Steelers themselves, realized they weren’t quite as good as that record. However, they didn’t appear to be a poor team.
The Steelers may not be as good as they seem after the last two games. Or, for a team in the AFC playoff race, oddly indifferent.
Tomlin is highly praised, and with good reason. It is also his fault that his team is disintegrating.Pittsburgh Steelers’ Mitch Trubisky (10) is sacked by New England Patriots linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. (3). (Image via Getty Images / Joe Sargent)
The Steelers are careless right away.
The Steelers’ carelessness was epitomized in one incident. Pittsburgh sent Chukwuma Okorafor in as a sixth lineman during a second-down early in the second quarter, with the Steelers down 14-3, the crowd jeering the offense and some cheering for backup quarterback Mason Rudolph. Despite reporting as eligible, Okorafor misaligned his alignment and failed to cover the tackle. That player knew he would be in that particular personnel group, hence it was an illegal formation penalty. That is an obvious criticism of the coaching staff.
Pittsburgh was obviously not set in stone from the beginning. In the first quarter, the Steelers only possessed 36 yards. This previous Sunday, they allowed a team with 257 yards and no points in the entire game to 115 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter ag
Then, Mitch Trubisky threw an interception to begin the second quarter. On third down, he was struck while throwing, and safety Jabrill Peppers had an easy pick. Hunter Henry scored a touchdown on it, giving the Patriots a 14-3 advantage. Henry scored another touchdown a short while later, giving the Patriots a 21-3 lead. In their last three games combined, the Patriots had scored 13 points.
ainst a poor Los Angeles Chargers defense.
Trubisky missed a few throws that could have been intercepted and one that was called back because of a penalty. For the majority of the evening, there was nothing to like about the Steelers.
Following the Cardinals’ defeat, Tomlin claimed that the Steelers had played “JV football.” That must have made Pop Warner, or at least the freshman team, on Thursday night.
Steelers are at a loss for responses.
For the Steelers, there was yet another pivotal moment in the third quarter. One big play, a deflected interception recovered to the 16-yard line, was all they got. The offense still needed to move it sixteen yards as a result. Trubisky fumbled on third-and-nine. Though it was improbable that he would make it all the way to the first-down line, he surrendered two yards shy of the marker before he was tackled. For any quarterback in that scenario, it is unacceptable to not give it their all to get those yards. Under duress, Trubisky threw the ball away on fourth down, and Jaylen Warren missed the first down.
The Steelers receivers were impressive to watch all throughout the game. Broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit criticized George Pickens for not trying harder to block on run plays. Pickens had already faced backlash earlier in the season for being upset with teammate Diontae Johnson after the player scored the game’s winning touchdown and went on social media. Johnson occasionally expressed his annoyance. Earlier in the season, he came under fire for not making an attempt to block runs. Pickens also did, especially on fourth downs when he was not targeted.
