F1 drivers vote Verstappen as best driver of the year …

The drivers of Formula One cast their ballots for the best drivers of 2023, and Max Verstappen was the clear winner.

Peers have chosen Max Verstappen as the top Formula 1 driver of 2023, with World Championship runner-up Sergio Perez coming in just tenth.

Verstappen won the championship in an annual vote conducted by Formula One (F1) following a successful season in which he smashed records for the most victories, points, laps led, and points differential between first and second place.

The Red Bull driver completed a hat-trick by winning the poll in 2023, having previously won it in his two championship campaigns.

Verstappen was ranked first by 19 of the 22 drivers using the conventional Formula One points system, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, with Lando Norris coming in fourth, two places better than his actual position.

Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc,

Oscar Piastri and Alex Albon were sixth through eighth on the vote, while Pierre Gasly of Alpine finished ninth, just ahead of Perez, in the top 10

The only drivers in 2023 who did not cast a ballot were Liam Lawson, Hamilton, and Nyck de Vries.
