CBS Philadelphia, PA Former J.R. Masterman School instructor, coach, dean, and teacher Kevin Saint Clair passed away on Monday night after becoming involved in a multi-vehicle collision while bicycling.

Cycling was Saint Clair’s passion, according to his relatives.

Saint Clair spent more than 20 years teaching and coaching at Masterman in Spring Garden, where he rode his bike every day from his home in Chestnut Hill.

Kevin’s son Jack Saint Clair remarked, “‘Good morning, good morning, good morning,’ and he’d say it like that.” “But he really did think it was a good morning, he thought every morning was a good morning.”

Jack Saint Clair recalls his father Kevin Saint Clair as a straightforward, dependable, and powerful man.

Jack Saint Clair remarked, “He loved his family, he loved teaching, and he loved his grandchildren.”

The last time Jack Saint Clair saw his father was on Monday night, following his work on his Wayne house.

Kevin Saint Clair was hit by a car on Henry Avenue in Roxborough while he was riding his bike back home to Chestnut Hill. The impact sent him into the northbound lane, where he was hit by another vehicle.

According to his son, he rode the same route where he died.

He was accustomed to it because he had done it so frequently. Jack Saint Clair remarked, “He could ride in the morning, in the dark, and in the snow.”

The 65-year-old’s life was centered on sports for the most part.

In addition to being a former track star and rowing champion at Temple University, Kevin Saint Clair loved cycling.

However, he was most proud of the more than 40 years he spent coaching cross country and track in Philadelphia and New Jersey, as well as teaching middle school.

He would never let someone go from the squad, according to Jack Saint Clair.

Wednesday night, outside each house on the block was a lone white candle with Kevin Saint Clair’s name, left by neighbors.

“My father fully experienced life,” Jack Saint Clair remarked. “He had a vibrant existence. He was giving so much of himself to help others.”

The Saint Clair family will have a funeral service at Our Mother of Consolation in Chestnut Hill this weekend, along with two viewings.
