State police were called in by the Inkster Police Department to look into the collision.
The collision occurred on Friday at 3 p.m. on Beech Daly Street close to Norfolk Street in Inkster, according to state police.
State troopers reported that at that moment, the Inskter police patrol car was going over the speed limit while heading south on Beech Daly when it collided with another vehicle that was heading south on Beech Daly but turning west onto Norfolk Street.
The patrol car’s speed was not disclosed by state police. Additionally, the troopers did not specify if the cops were responding to a call or if they had their lights on.
The area’s posted speed limit is 35 mph, according to Google Maps.
According to state police, impairment had no role in the collision. All three individuals, including the driver of the other vehicle and the two officers in the patrol car, had on seatbelts.
According to Michigan State Police Lieutenant Mike Shaw, “our reconstruction team will be conducting vehicle inspections and finishing up their investigation.”
“We think that everyone’s injuries were kept minor by wearing seatbelts, and this serves as a reminder to all of us to always wear seatbelts.”
