JUST NOW:Kirby Smart says college football ‘has to be fixed’ after crushing Florida State.

Smart believes that something must change after the Bulldogs defeated a depleted Florida State team in the Orange Bowl.

The Georgia Bulldogs have etched their names in history over the last two seasons. In their two postseason outings, the Bulldogs defeated TCU (65-7) and Florida State (63-3) in historic fashion. The Seminoles’ thumping in the Orange Bowl was the greatest margin of victory in a college football bowl game.

Having said that, the findings were clearly skewed due to the number of players missing from FSU’s sideline in South Florida. In fact, it might have been easier to count the number of Seminoles who were available rather than trying to figure out how much skill was missing from the lineup.

Florida State was missing at least 30 players from their roster, including 20 guys on the two-deep. The squad also lost several starters during the game, including wide receiver Kentron Poitier, offensive tackle Darius Washington, and cornerback Fentrell Cypress II, who were all out by halftime.

Following the game, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart was delighted with his team’s victory over the Seminoles but stated that something needs to happen in college football moving ahead. In the NCAA Transfer Portal and opt-out age, these types of blowouts are becoming more regular in the sport.

“Let me say something, and maybe I’m wrong and this will be a bad sound-byte, but people need to see what happened tonight and fix it.” “It needs to be fixed,” Smart stated following the game. “It’s very unfortunate that they, who have a good football team and a good football program, are in the position they’re in.”

“Everyone can say it’s their fault and their own problem, and everyone can say we had our guys and they didn’t have our guys.” “I can hear everything,” Smart continued. “However, college football must decide what it wants, and I know things are changing.” I’m sure things will change next year. You know what, outside of those, there will still be bowl games. People have to pick what they want and what they truly want to gain out of it, because it’s extremely awful for those kids on the sidelines who had to play in that game without their full armament, and it influenced the game 100%.”

Florida State, in particular, saw its squad ravaged as a result of the College Football Playoff snub. Without a doubt, the majority of the departures would not have occurred if the program was now competing for a national championship. Instead, the Seminoles were reduced to a shadow of their former selves as a result of a choice made by 13 people in a conference room.

In terms of a solution, there is no simple solution that would meet all sides’ desires. That being said, the month of December as it stands now is simply nuts, with the Early Signing Period, transfer portal, and bowl games all crammed into a short period. With so many decisions to be made so rapidly, it’s not an easy time for coaches or players.

Georgia has won 30 of its last 31 games, including two National Championships in a row. The Bulldogs have won four of their last five postseason games.

The Orange Bowl loss ended Florida State’s 19-game winning streak, which was the second-longest in program history. The Seminoles finished 13-1 with victories over LSU, Miami, and Florida, and won the ACC Championship for the first time in nine years.
