Dallas thanks Jimmy Johnson as his old coach officially goes into Cowboys Ring of Honor because ……

Without a doubt, Jimmy Johnson’s induction into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor took far too long. It was most likely ten or perhaps twenty years too late.

However, the extended wait made the occasion much more memorable. And also emotional.

Johnson was officially inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor at halftime of Dallas’ game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday night, nearly 30 years after he coached his final game with the team.

With some of the greatest Cowboys legends on the field, including key members in the Cowboys’ championship teams of the 1990s, which Johnson was essential in establishing, team owner Jerry Jones gave a poignant eulogy honoring his former coach.

“You not only inspired NEWS NOW : Michael Cohen claims that he unintentionally gave a lawyer fictitious AI-generated court cases.“You certainly inspired our fans and your players, but you need to hear how much you personally inspired me,” Jones said.

Johnson also acknowledged his assistant coaches, players, Cowboys fans, and Jones.

“I’ve been asked what this means to me. “I’m so proud of what we accomplished,” Johnson remarked on the field during his address. “When I say we, I mean a large group of people. But, above everything, I want to thank Jerry Jones for bringing me to the Dallas Cowboys.”

Johnson ended his statement with a spirited “How ’bout them Cowboys!” as Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith hugged him warmly.

Johnson and Jones had one of the NFL’s most infamous feuds. Jones and Johnson split up due to a power dispute, despite being part of one of the best dynasties in NFL history. Cowboys won two Super Bowls with Johnson and one without him. If Jones and Johnson could have coexisted, perhaps there would have been many more championships. The Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 1995 season ended.

Many former Cowboys were present for the event. This featured Troy Aikman, who was broadcasting the game from the ESPN booth.

It was an emotional night for Aikman, who cried as Johnson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He and the rest of the Cowboys from the 1990s.

“It means everything to me and my teammates and everyone on those teams,” Aikman said during the first half of the game. “The circle has been closed, tonight at halftime.”

Other instances of Jones and Johnson laying their enmity to rest include friendly words and warm moments between them at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Johnson said before the game, “I don’t think anybody could ever imagine what this means to me.”

If the animosity wasn’t already a thing of the past, it appeared to be with Saturday’s halftime ceremony.

“I think we’ve moved on from who gets credit,” Johnson said, according to the Associated Press.
