JUSTNOW:Aaron Gordon of the Nuggets returns from his dog bite injuries with a dog chain, saying, “I really appreciate the city.”
Gordon showed off his sense of style and self-deprecating humor when he arrived into Ball Arena.
Although Aaron Gordon is known for arriving at work in style, on New Year’s Day he fused his sense of humor with a dash of fashion.
Gordon made his comeback to Ball Arena on Monday night, having missed two games due to injuries sustained from his Rottweiler on Christmas. Part of his ensemble included a chain with a jeweled bulldog. Despite having 21 stitches in his right hand and face, Gordon managed to score 10 points during the Nuggets’ victory over the Hornets.
Gordon later told The Denver Post, “It was all good.” “Everything is well.”
He said that the chain was a deliberate addition. That accurately reflected Gordon’s approach to dealing with the unique circumstance during his Sunday comeback to practice. He told The Denver Post that he was to blame for the dog attacks and quipped that “when you (mess) around, you find out.” As is customary, teammates asked Gordon if it would be disrespectful for them to keep yelling at him in response to his excellent defense. Gordon gave them the go-ahead.
“To be honest, that guy is amazing,” remarked Reggie Jackson. “You are aware of the chain. You’ve observed his easygoing attitude toward everything. I adore the man. Admire his soul. Strange circumstances, but I’m glad to have him. He is our lifeblood.
Jackson went on to say that he watched Gordon’s comment regarding the incident and found it humorous, as did the other players from Denver. Jackson remarked, “That was one of those once-in-a-lifetime remarks.”
Michael Porter Jr. remarked, “I was really happy that it wasn’t a prolonged thing.” “.. things was fantastic to be able to chat to him and see that his spirits were high despite not knowing how bad things was.
After practicing on Sunday, Gordon knew he was ready to play, but the squad was willing to give him as much time as he needed to heal both physically and mentally. There was a particularly thunderous ovation for him at Ball Arena when he was unveiled as one of Denver’s starting.
Gordon said to The Post, “It does mean a lot.” “I’m very grateful for the city. I genuinely value the fan base and the organization. I adore this team so much. I adore the guys who make up the coaching staff on this team. It’s therefore pleasant that they feel the same way.
Michael Malone, the coach of the Nuggets, wanted to make sure that Gordon was comfortable playing with stitches in his shooting hand before the game. With a significant lead, Denver was able to allow its starters to get some rest in the fourth quarter, limiting Gordon to a manageable 24 minutes (eight fewer than his average).
Malone remarked, “He said it was great to be back out there and overall he felt pretty good.” We’ll have a few days to get him ready for his next game, so I’m delighted he’s back.
