NEWSNOW:The only Formula One driver named by Christijan Albers that can contend with Max Verstappen in 2024Christijan Albers names the one F1 driver who can challenge Max Verstappen in 2024 - F1 Oversteer

Christijan Albers, a former Formula 1 driver, has acknowledged that he believes Lewis Hamilton is the only driver capable of preventing Max Verstappen from taking home the title in 2024.

Mercedes hasn’t developed a good vehicle in the last two years, so this winter, they’ll need to step it up if Lewis Hamilton is to have any chance of overtaking the Dutchman.

Albers acknowledged in a De Telegraaf essay that he hopes Mercedes can close the deal before the 2024 season to spice up the championship fight.

It could be hard for Hamilton to think he’ll be competing with Max Verstappen in any capacity next year.

In 2023, it took the squad just one qualifying session to realize how far behind Red Bull they were.

They spent the entire year playing catch-up as they had chosen the erroneous development path.

The squad didn’t finish on the top step once in 2022, unlike that year in Sao Paulo when George Russell pulled off an incredible maiden victory.

Albers has acknowledged that, if given the proper vehicle this year, Hamilton is probably the only driver quick enough to compete with Verstappen.

Albers believes Hamilton can rival Verstappen in 2024 if he is given the proper vehicle.
Albers made the following statement regarding the upcoming season: “As a neutral observer, I hope Mercedes will release a better car in 2024.”

“Because, in my opinion, Lewis Hamilton is the only driver who can truly compete with Max Verstappen when evaluating just the attributes of the current field.”

“My main focus is on the ability to execute consistently and maintain a very stable lap time during a race.

Similar to Verstappen, Hamilton has excellent tire management skills. In evaluating certain circumstances and sensing the rubber, they are unique.

Hamilton was finally disqualified, but his finest race of 2023 was probably in Austin.

Even though it’s unclear if he would have been as fast if his car had passed inspection, he was catching the Dutchman on the circuit.
