first signing of the year your thoughts on this? is he the right choice for us?
Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report reports that the offensive tackle La’el Collins and the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms on a contract.
La’el Collins joined the Cowboys upon entering the league in 2015 and played for the team until the 2021 campaign. In 2022, he signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. He suffered a ruptured ACL and MCL in Week 16 of his first season in 2022 with the Bengals. Collins was ultimately released by Cincinnati in September of
Collins posted earlier in the day that he was back with the Cowboys, but now Schultz’s report indicates that a deal has been reached.
The addition of Collins gives the Cowboys offensive line depth at the tackle position behind Tyron Smith and Terence Steele. It seems unlikely that Collins will get playing time, but he is back in a place he had success before. It seems likely that it would be a practice squad type of signing for Collins, with an opportunity to build himself back up in a familiar setting.
The Cowboys are hoping to clinch the NFC East with a win against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, and they are preparing to attempt another playoff run. Cowboys sign LB Damien Wilson to their practice squad
The former Cowboys linebacker comes home
The Dallas Cowboys have brought in reinforcements for the linebacker position. The team worked out former Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson at the same time they worked out La’el Collins, and today they put Wilson on the practice squad.
Wilson was a fourth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2015, the same year Collins came to Dallas. He didn’t start as a rookie and tallied just 15 tackles. He would start 22 games over the next three seasons for Dallas and amassed 34, 35, and 37 tackles during those campaigns. Wilson would spend two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he started 29 games and registered 154 total tackles. His most productive season in the league came in 2021 when he started all 17 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars and produced a career-high 106 tackles and three sacks. Wilson spent the 2022 campaign with the Carolina Panthers and tallied 38 tackles on just 204 snaps.
This isn’t a blockbuster move for the Cowboys, it’s simply to get a veteran guy in the linebacker room after losing Leighton Vander Esch earlier in the year and then recently releasing s. Rahsaan EvanThat really only left Damone Clark and Markquese Bell as viable options at the position, although the Cowboys do use Donovan Wilson and Jayron Kearse to help out in certain formations.
It’s November 25th, 1993. Were at Texas Stadium for a Thanksgiving day showdown between the hometown Dallas Cowboys and the visiting Miami Dolphins. Dallas controls the game with a one-point lead but Miami’s lining up for a field goal in the final seconds. A booming kick could give the Dolphins a chance to gobble up a statement win against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Before we witness what comes next, there’s so much to unpack. To do that, we need to rewind
