La’el Collins of the Cowboys speaks out on Dallas homecoming.
La’el Collins, an offensive lineman, is officially back with his first NFL team after joining the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys for the team’s last regular season game against the Washington Commanders in Week 18 and their playoff run. Collins, who played in Dallas from 2015 until 2021 after signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, says he is thrilled to be going back to Texas.
According to a report published on Thursday by Dallas Morning News beat reporter Michael Gehlken, “Cowboys OL La’el Collins said he ‘feels like a little kid’ to be back.” “Willing to play tackle or guard. “I’ll be the fullback.” It doesn’t matter to me.All I want is for these guys to succeed. He’s back to his old self. also a few fresh ones. I think the new cadence is really nice. I enjoy saying, “Here we go.”
Collins was a member of the Cowboys for six seasons, participating in 89 games and starting 86 of them at guard and tackle. In the 2022 offseason, Dallas dismissed the now-30-year-old, and the offensive lineman inked a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals placed Collins on reserve/PUP to begin the 2023 season after he started 15 games in 2022. Collins was waived by the team in early September.
Although Collins hasn’t participated in an NFL game since December 24, 2022, he might get some action for the Cowboys as the postseason approaches and starting offensive lineman Tyler Smith, Tyron Smith, and Zack Martin all have ailments.
The NFC East and the No. 2 seed, which comes with home-field advantage until the NFC Championship Game, are on the line as the Cowboys play the Commanders in Week 18. They will occupy both of those positions if they triumph over the Commanders.
