after steelars wining the rose bowl championship star player Cameron Heyward get an injury so decided to ……...
The 2023 Steelers season isn’t over, but one longtime member of the team was fielding questions about 2024 on Wednesday.
Defensive lineman Cameron Heyward has been with the team since 2011 and he is signed for 2024, but he missed most of the first half of this season with a groin injury and said that he’s going to have to take stock of how he’s feeling physically before he makes any call about coming back for another season.
“First and foremost, I have to see how my body feels. It’s been a rough season,” Heyward said, via Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Heyward is set to make $16 million during the 2024 season and the Steelers would get all of that cap space back by parting ways with him, so his desire to play may not be the only factor in his future with the Steelers. With Week 18 and a possible playoff trip still in front of them, there’s time for all involved to come up with a plan for what the future will hold.
The Ravens officially ruled out quarterback Lamar Jackson and receiver Odell Beckham for Saturday’s game against the Steelers.
The team already has clinched the No. 1 seed, so John Harbaugh has decided to rest Jackson and Beckham. That means the star players will go three weeks between games, with the Ravens getting a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Jackson had limited practices Wednesday and Thursday and Beckham missed the past two days.
The Ravens also ruled out offensive guard Kevin Zeitler (knee/quad/coaches decision), linebacker Malik Harrison (groin), cornerback Marlon Humphrey (calf) and defensive back Daryl Worley (shoulder/ankle) for the Saturday’s game.
Receiver Zay Flowers (calf) is doubtful after not practicing all week.
Cornerback Ronald Darby (illness), safety Kyle Hamilton (knee), cornerback Arthur Maulet (hip), cornerback Brandon Stephens (ankle), receiver Tylan Wallace (knee) and safety Ar’Darius Washington (pectoral) are questionable.
Three Steelers players were listed as injured going into their matchup with the Ravens on Saturday afternoon.
Linebacker Elandon Roberts (pectoral), safety Trenton Thompson (neck), and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) are all listed as questionable.
Fitzpatrick hasn’t played since Pittsburgh’s defeat at Indianapolis on December 16. This season, he has participated in ten games and amassed 64 tackles in total, along with three passes defensed.
Roberts was also absent from Seattle’s triumph last week. He has totaled 100 tackles with 10 for loss, six quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks, and two passes defensed in 15 games, 14 of which he started.
Kenny Pickett, the quarterback, is expected to make a comeback after missing several weeks due to an ankle injury, though he won’t start. He participated fully in each of the three practices. Mason Rudolph will make his third straight start against
Defense tackle Cameron Heyward (groin) and center Seumalo (shoulder) are not included on the injury report and are expected to play.
To have the best chance of making the playoffs, the Steelers must defeat the Ravens, who will rest Lamar Jackson. Even if they lose, there’s still a chance that they could secure a slot.
