Roberts will miss the home match against play-off opponents Hull City on Friday night and the trip to Championship promotion contenders Ipswich Town the following weekend, according to Beale’s timeline. A comeback would be reasonable for Sunderland against Stoke City at home on January 27 or, in the event that it isn’t possible, against Middlesbrough on February 4.
