A source claims that after receiving a complaint regarding a water leak coming from Barber’s flat, police were dispatched to conduct a welfare check at his residence. Officers pushed their way inside. According to police spokesperson Joshua Lovell, “Frisco Police responded to a welfare concern at an apartment believed to be leased by Marion Barber.” “An unattended death at the location is being investigated by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Francisco Police.” Barber had 38 years old. June 10 is his birthday.

The Cowboys issued a formal statement on Wednesday night, saying, “We are deeply saddened by Marion Barber III’s untimely passing. Marion was a football player from the old school, a hard-nosed competitor who ran with every down as his goal. He loved his teammates and coaches, and he was passionate about the game. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marion’s family and friends during this trying time. Between 2005 and 2011, Barber played in the NFL for seven years, spending six of those years with the Cowboys. In a season in which he split time with Julius Jones and ran for 975 yards and 10 touchdowns for Dallas, he was named to the Pro Bowl in 2007. 53 rushing

He was charged with two misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief in 2019 after it was claimed that, when he was running in Frisco in 2018, he had damaged two cars. A witness claimed that Barber charged toward their car, leaving big dents on the side of their vehicles, according to KXAS Channel 5. After retiring in 2012, Barber has twice been admitted to the hospital for mental health assessments, according to a source.

Almost a year ago, Dez Bryant, a former wide receiver for the Cowboys, tweeted that he knew Marion Barber was down and out, to the point where he couldn’t even enjoy watching old highlights of him: “As I watch this video and me knowing exactly how Marion barber life is going right now today is why I built @personalcorner…. I can’t even enjoy it because he’s down and out bad…we are just a stat and moments to most people.” Bryant shared something on Twitter.
