Sherrone Moore, the coach of Michigan, goes viral for slapping J.J. McCarthy’s butt.
In six of the twelve college football games played during the regular season in 2023, Sherrone Moore led Michigan. In last weekend’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl, his offense produced 27 points against Alabama.
A video from New Year’s Day is going popular on the internet as the Wolverines prepare for the national title. Shortly after the clock struck zero, a very excited Moore was in the tunnel enjoying his
victory over the Crimson Tide.
It was likely the moment in which he saw quarterback J.J. McCarthy for the first time. Moore was amped, to say the least. Emotions were high and the joy of the postgame exchange is palpable.
That, however, is not the reason that the Detroit Free Press video is getting attention, even a week later.
2024 is, apparently, the year in which we normalize butt-slapping with the fellas. Moore walked by McCarthy, dialed-in on his target and unleashed a powerful sequence of spanks.
Look at the way Moore locks in on McCarthy before unloading. His celebratory slaps were not gentle! He got after it with an open hand and a four-straight full swings with forceful follow-through.
Butt-slapping in sports is not uncommon. This isn’t anything new or controversial. Just funny!
The comedy in the video lies with Moore’s eyes as he approached McCarthy.
There was no way he was going to miss. His intentions were clear and he made sure to get every possible inch. His contact was forceful. The slaps echoed throughout the tunnel of the most-famous and beloved field in college football.
