These five facts concerning Harbaugh should be known:
1. He’s triumphant
In a victory over Washington, the Michigan head coach just guided the Wolverines to a College Football National Championship and the school’s first overall championship since 1947. The biggest gap between consecutive titles in the history of the AP Poll was broken by the win.
The Michigan Wolverines under head coach Jim Harbaugh had an incredible year, concluding the regular season with a perfect 15-0 record. They concluded the season atop the AP Poll, their highest position since 1997, and became the sixth team in history to finish 15-0 or better.
This past season, Michigan’s defense allowed just 10.40 points per game, ranking #1 in the nation in scoring defense.

Along with three consecutive Big Ten Conference championships and three consecutive College Football Playoff berths, he has also guided the Wolverines to six seasons of at least 10 wins.
Under Harbaugh, Michigan has had three of the five most prolific offensive seasons in school history and seven of the nine seasons have had a Top-12 national defense.
Since taking over at the university, ten of Harbaugh’s players have been unanimously selected to the All-America team, demonstrating the strength of his recruiting pipeline. This season, he has had 28 players—on defense, offense, and special teams—earn All-Big Ten recognition.
3. An accomplished NFL head coach
Harbaugh’s coaching path has taken him back to Michigan, but it all started in the AFC West.
Harbaugh coached the Raiders quarterbacks in 2002 and 2003 after finishing his playing career in the NFL.

5. A legendary football family
The Harbaugh family is deeply involved in football.
Jack Harbaugh, the father of Harbaugh, was a seasoned collegiate football coach who held positions at Bowling Green, Iowa, and Michigan, among other schools.
In addition, Jack Harbaugh was the head coach of Western Michigan for five seasons. From 1989 to 2002, he oversaw the football program at Western Kentucky.
