Several names have already been expected to make their way to Gainesville, and Swamp247 has been keeping track of the names expected in town. You can track that list HERE. Another name expected to be in town this weekend is Savannah (GA) Christian Prep five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin, the No. 3 ranked prospect in the class of 2025.
This will be the Gators first chance to get Griffin on campus if he makes it in as expected. He’s had times in the past where he’s planned to get to The Swamp, but those plans eventually fell through. It’s been a group effort to get the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder down to Gainesville between new defensive line coach Gerald Chatman and assistant defensive line coach Kali James. The two have been in contact with Griffin a lot as of late, and their persistence has them in line to get some time around the talented defender.

Alabama transfer Jameer Grimsley planning to make decision in the coming days
Tampa (Fla.) Catholic defensive back Jameer Grimsley entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Thursday. It was a short lived time at Alabama, after signing with the program in December, and enrolling early with the team for the spring semester. With former head coach Nick Saban stepping down and retiring, there has been a lot of change in Tuscaloosa, which caused him to enter his name in the portal to take a second look around.
Fresh after entering his name into the transfer ranks, Grismley told Swamp247 he’s down to Flordia and LSU. A decision is expected to happen quickly as well, and he doesn’t plan to take any visits before then.
2024 NFL Draft Scouting Reports: Evaluating J.J. McCarthy, Audric Estime among 4 intriguing prospects
While it seems clear that USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye, and Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. are three locks to go top five in the 2024 NFL Draft, there are many prospects who will go in the later rounds that could be steals and make or break a team’s draft. Among those intriguing prospects are Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, Notre Dame running back Audric Estime, Florida’s Ricky Pearsall, and LSU defensive tackle Maason Smith.
All have flashed in college. Some have proven to be consistent winners. Some have insane college production. Some possess all the necessary tools. While others are oozing with potential that is yet to be fully unlocked.
That is why those four prospects are some of the more interesting evaluations among the entries of this April’s draft, and players to keep an eye this spring.
Swamp247 Podcast: Discussing Florida basketball’s 1-3 start to SEC play
The Swamp247 podcast is back with another episode to discuss the Florida men’s basketball team’s 1-3 start to league play, which has featured a narrow loss to Kentucky, blowout losses at Ole Miss and Tennessee and a 22-point win over Arkansas. The hosts, Graham Hall and Jacob Rudner, detail what they’ve seen from the Gators in the four SEC games thus far and briefly touch on the road ahead for UF.
Following the team’s 85-66 loss at Tennessee, head coach Todd Golden and a pair of players, Walter Clayton and Zyon Pullin, discussed the defeat with the media in Knoxville. Here’s what they had to say:
“Honestly, I thought we got some opportunities at the rim, we just didn’t finish with very much physicality and we allowed their bigs to go vertical on us and meet us chest-to-chest. I thought we were attempting to draw fouls a little too much instead of just finding a way to power through and put the ball in the basket. Again, they’re obviously a very good team, very good defensive team, and they play with an edge at home. They play with more physicality. They’re definitely a tougher team here, and I thought that showed tonight.”
On Tennessee senior guard Dalton Knecht’s career-high 39-point performance:
“He’s been doing it to everybody. Obviously, we came into the game with an idea of how we’d try to turn his water off. In the first half, I thought a lot of it was in transition and broken plays, and he just didn’t let us off the hook. Then in the second half, a little more of the same in terms of getting downhill off the ball screen and us not doing a good enough job of protecting the rim when he drove. Then he obviously made some deep threes and some tough shots.”
enough job on [Zakai] Zeigler, thought we did a good job on [Santiago] Vescovi, and took away [Josiah-Jordan] James, some guys that are usually really electric and powerful guys. But again, between Knecht and Aidoo, they were a two-man band and they just killed us tonight.”
On Tennessee’s early run to get separation and the difficulty of coming back:
“This isn’t a team you want to fall behind against. They’re obviously very good defensively and very well-coached. They play with great intent, very disciplined. They’re not going to make mistakes and allow you to get back in the game, so getting down by 10 puts you behind the 8-ball a little bit. I thought we fought in the second half, cut it to 10, had a possession or two to make it single digits, some broken plays and they made some threes to take it back out to 16. But obviously just didn’t play well enough tonight.”
Walter Clayton:
