Florida Football Under Investigation for Unspecified NCAA Violations
Florida had a rough enough year on the field in 2023, limping to a 5–7 record that constituted its third straight losing season. The Gators, however, may soon have even bigger problems. Coach Billy Napier’s program is under investigation by the NCAA, according to documents obtained Friday by Matt Baker of The Tampa Bay Times. “The investigation has been underway since at least June 9 when the NCAA sent [Florida] president Ben Sasse a notice of inquiry,” Baker reported. The precise nature of the allegations were not spelled out in the documentation, per Baker.
We have been and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA,” Florida athletics spokesperson Steve McClain told The Times. “We hold ourselves to high standards of excellence and integrity on and off the field.
