According to reports, Jalen Hurts will have a new quarterbacks coach in 2024.

Since the Eagles are letting Alex Tanney go for other chances, Jalen Hurts will have a new quarterbacks coach in 2024.

During his season-ending press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Nick Sirianni was questioned regarding the hunt for a new offensive coordinator.
It appears that in 2024, Jalen Hurts will have a new position coach.

The Eagles have given their current quarterbacks coach, Alex Tanney, permission to “explore other coaching opportunities,” according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

This is hardly shocking considering that the Eagles are now searching for a new offensive coordinator to take Brian Johnson’s place, who was fired lately. Coach Nick Sirianni notably highlighted coaching the quarterback while outlining the responsibilities of the future offensive coordinator.

“Our goal is to hire the most qualified candidate for the position, one with a clear vision, one who will call plays and be able to coach the quarterback in the same way,” Sirianni stated.

Tanney was moved from assistant QBs coach to offensive coordinator during the previous offseason, after Johnson’s promotion from QBs coach to OC. Although the Eagles’ offense wasn’t horrible in 2023, there was some obvious decline, which included

Here is a comparison of Hurts’ 2022 and 2023 stats:

2022: 660 running yards, 13 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 3,701 yards, 15 games, 66.5%

2Tanney, 36, played quarterback in the NFL until the end of the 2020 season. In 2021, he subsequently became a quality control coach for the Eagles. In the following two offseasons, he was promoted and seemed to be headed straight for the NFL offensive coordinator position. However, the Eagles disintegrated in 2023, and many coaches will have to find new positions.

023: 17 games, 65.4%, 3,858 yards, 15 interceptions, 23 touchdowns, 89.1 rating; 15 touchdowns and 605 rushing yards

The Eagles have already begun interviewing position coaches and are appointing veteran coach Vic Fangio as their defensive coordinator. Once they have the new offensive coordinator, the procedure on the other side of the ball will probably be the same.

Throughout the week, Sirianni made reference to the uncertainty surrounding the position coach jobs. Certain coaches may be kept on, but the new coordinators may prefer their own individuals to fill those positions. Jeff Stoutland, the coordinator of run games and offensive line coach, is the most obvious to maintain.
