Warriors need victories right now, not hope after a defeat.
Following his 24 point performance in the Golden State Warriors’ hard 145-144 double-overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Klay Thompson talks with reporters.
SAN FRANCISCO: The Warriors suffered yet another crushing blow on Saturday at Chase Center when they fell to the Lakers 145-144 in double overtime. This season has been full of heartbreaking defeats.
The Warriors were unable to complete the task, continuing a disheartening trend that has plagued them for the majority of the season. They had opportunities to win in regulation and during both overtime periods.
Following every tight, painful defeat, head coach Steve Kerr and his team have made an effort to maintain optimism. And on Saturday, they had every right to feel that way.
The Warriors scored numerous big baskets in both overtimes, many of them by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, and made the Lakers sweat before their rival from Dub Nation, LeBron James, sunk two free throws in the closing seconds to seal LA’s victory. However, they let a 15-point lead slip away in regulation.
Now when the season is halfway through, time is of the importance. Golden State, with a record of 19–24, is three games short of a play-in tournament position and ranked 12th in the Western Conference.
To put it plainly, the Warriors must win before the season completely gets out of hand.
We’ve had some difficult breaks during the season, some self-inflicted injuries, and games that we clearly ought to have won, Curry added. “You felt like you played well enough to win tonight, almost like in the Sac game [a Thursday 134-133 loss].” We persevered during the entire struggle, remained positive even in the face of setbacks, and gave ourselves a chance. It demonstrates how much we desire it.
We’re attempting to turn the tide of our season by playing with a hint of desperation. currently have nothing to show for it.
This season, the Warriors have now lost four games by a single point. Out of their 24 losses, 11 have been decided by five points or less. They would be above.500 and in a far better position to make the playoffs if they had even managed to win four of those close games.
The losses have also taken many different shapes. Large leads have been blown, as the Lakers game demonstrated. There have been unsuccessful rallies from significant deficits. A few blowouts have also occurred, but they are not the norm.
The Warriors currently have 39 games left to save their season. The squad is attempting to stay focused on that more than the devastating losses at this time.
“As a group, we are aware of our talent,” Thompson stated. “Losing time at any level is terrible. From it, we can get knowledge. There will be lots of basketball to right the ship in the future. We still have time, but obviously there is a sense of urgency. Nevertheless, we don’t have to give up.
It might be simpler said than done. After Saturday’s defeat, Curry was so enraged that he tore his jersey as he made his way to Golden State’s locker room.
But Kerr saw a lot of cause for hope in the way the Warriors
Simply thought that the way the guys competed, we should have won the game,” Kerr remarked. There were so many plays that had possible outcomes. We simply had the impression that we should have won the game. I believe we can turn things around and have a fantastic season if we continue to play the way we did tonight. That is something I firmly think.
“I adore our guys,” They’re fantastic. We intend to rotate it. Even though we didn’t receive the outcome tonight, our lads proved who they are.
Yes, that is a good feeling. But wins and defeats are what matter most in the NBA. Feel-good moments are only as effective as the outcomes they produce.
If these final two games proceed as planned, other way, our locker room has a distinct atmosphere,” Curry remarked. The difficulty lies in controlling the agony. We need to return to practice with the same level of intensity, competition, and desperation while also attempting to have a short memory.
“It hurts to lose. It’s the most awful sensation ever. Kind of have to just sit in it till you get over the hump. Right there is where we are.
