Rockets hiring Ime Udoka as head coach after Celtics scandal

Ime Udoka has returned to the NBA as head coach of a new team.

According to some sources, Udoka is going to be the new head coach of the Rockets.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the story first.

After it was discovered that Udoka had an inappropriate personal relationship with a team employee, the Celtics dismissed him in September of last year and suspended him for the whole season.

Shams Charania of The Athletic later revealed that, following their liaison, Udoka had made “unwanted comments” to the team staffer.

In a statement at the time, Udoka said, “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down.” “I apologize for placing the squad in such a trying situation.

The Celtics were coming off an unexpected trip to the NBA Finals, so hearing that Udoka would be suspended for the entire season was upsetting at first.

Joe Mazzula, a previous assistant coach, took Udoka’s post as Celtics head coach.

After increasing doubts about Udoka’s suitability as head coach, the Nets decided to go with Jacque Vaughn instead of Udoka, who had been slated to succeed Steve Nash, who was sacked early in the season.

The Rockets finished 14th out of 15 clubs in the Western Conference with a 20-62 record this season.

After three seasons as head coach, the team sacked Stephen Silas in April.
