Senior Bowl: WR Ladd McConkey becomes name Browns player should know
There is a long journey leading up to the NFL draft. It is very hard to predict what the Cleveland Browns will do with their first selection in the second round this early in the process because so much happens between the end of the NFL season and the NFL draft in April.
We give our mock drafts a shot.
The Senior Bowl marks the beginning of the “draft starts in Mobile,” but before the NFL draft in April, NFL teams will be significantly impacted by free agency, the combine, interviews, medical exams, and trades.
At the Senior Bowl, two different teams are training simultaneously, so our Barry Shuck is covering as much of the action as he can. Shuck gave insightful information about WRs Brenden Rice.

Browns supporters should also keep WR Ladd McConkey in mind. With his performance, McConkey elevated his profile to the forefront with Rice and Wilson. A deft route runner with strong hands, quick feet, and good direction shift could easily climb draft boards.
McConkey was ranked 10th among wide receivers on the consensus big board but 50th overall heading into today. He is typically chosen anywhere in the second or late first round in NFL mock drafts.
That would be too early for Cleveland unless they were to trade up. McConkey’s combine measurables will determine his potential in the draft. With a 40-yard dash time that was slower than anticipated and a height of only about six feet, less
more than 200 pounds and be 22 years old, the Georgia Bulldogs receiver can be selected in the late second or early third round.
