A former principal of a school in Florida was compelled to step down after displaying an image of Michelangelo’s famous statue of a nude On Friday, David went to Florence to see the masterpiece in person.

Hope Carrasquilla, her husband, and their two kids arrived in Florence and went straight to the museum, according to Cecilie Hollberg, the director of the Accademia Gallery, which houses the David.

Last month, Carrasquilla resigned from his position as principal of the Tallahassee Classical school in the Florida city following a parent’s allegation that the huge sculpture was pornographic. Some parents expressed dissatisfaction at not receiving advance notice that their kids will be shown the nude body during a Renaissance lesson.

It was a “huge pleasure” to host Carrasquilla, the gallery director remarked.

In a written statement, Hollberg stated, “I am happy to be able to welcome her and introduce her to the beauties of our museum, aside from showing her the David, a sculpture that, I repeat as I have said, has nothing to do with pornography.” “It’s a work of art; it symbolizes a religious emblem of innocence and purity and the triumph of good over evil.”

According to Hollberg, the work’s nudity “is an obvious manifestation of the Renaissance, which centers attention on man.”

In the marble sculpture by Michelangelo, the biblical figure David is shown nude, holding a rock in his hand and a sling over his shoulder as he prepares to fight Goliath.

Carrasquilla’s cell phone was not answered when a call was made.

Presently, almost half of the gallery’s patrons are Americans, according to Hollberg.

The director continued, “I am confident that Mrs. Carrasquilla will find the welcome and the solidarity that she deserves here in Florence.”

Approximately 400 pupils in grades kindergarten through twelve attend the Florida school.
