Lahore win men’s, women’s table tennis team event titles
LAHORE – On Thursday at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall, the Lahore division won the crowns for the Men’s and Women’s Table Tennis Team Event of the Rising Punjab Games 2024. The Faisalabad division placed second in both contests. The Lahore ladies rallied from their opening match loss to win the following three against fierce rivals Faisalabad in the Women’s Table Tennis Team Event final. In the opening match, Saba Mushtaq of Faisalabad defeated Sana Muzaffar of Lahore 3-2, with set scores of 10-12, 11-7, 10-12, 11-8, and 11-8. In the team event final of table tennis, Lahore defeated Faisalabad 3-0. Asim Qureshi of Lahore defeated Faisalabad’s Hafeez 3-2 (11-6, 11-5, 11-6, 11-8, 12-10). Awais Hassan of Lahore defeated Hamza 3-1 (11-7, 11- 9, 13-11, 11-1) while Taimur Khan defeated Faizan 3-1 (11-6, 11-9, 11-4, 12-10). Following their individual semifinal victories, Kalsoom Khan and Perniya Zaman of Lahore swept into the final of the women’s singles competition. After winning their respective semifinal matches, Taimur Khan of Lahore and Faizan Zahoor of Faisalabad secured a spot in the championship match in the men’s singles competition.
