sadly: Patriots fired Alex Van Pelt by the Offensive Coordinator
Alex Van Pelt has been signed by the Patriots to manage the offense under new head coach Jerod Mayo’s staff, following his departure from the Browns.
Barely two weeks ago, the Browns and Van Pelt broke up after he refused to accept a demotion inside the club.
Van Pelt has coached quarterbacks for the Buffalo Bills since 2009, and he has a wealth of coaching expertise overall. However, his primary responsibility as a quarterback coach is to develop the greatest player at the most crucial position.
He served as both the offensive coordinator and the quarterback coach at different points throughout his four years in Cleveland, but aside from that one brief season in Buffalo, he has never really structured and managed an offense of his own. Famously, as the play-caller in the Browns’ 48-37 shock victory over the Steelers in the Wild Card round of 2021, Van Pelt had just one opportunity to plan and manage a gameday operation.
Van Pelt will at last have his opportunity with New England, a team that is undergoing significant personnel and roster changes in the wake of its decision to fire legendary coach Bill Belichick.
In the past week, Jerod Mayo had multiple interviews in order to expand his crew.
choose his choice, then after Van Pelt’s interview today, decide on him. After having successful stints as the quarterback coach at Buffalo, Green Bay, Cincinnati, and Cleveland, this will be a significant chance for him to establish his value in the NFL.
