After weeks of denials and months of rumors regarding head coach Mark Jackson’s employment status, the Golden State Warriors have decided to break ways with him.

General Manager Bob Myers stated, “Making a decision of this kind is never easy.” “In his three years with the company, Mark has achieved a great deal, one of which has been to improve this team’s standing from when he joined about 36 months ago. Since his arrival, he has shown us a great deal of dedication and commitment, and we are very grateful for his services. But as a company, we really think that, at this point, it’s best to take a new course.

Owner and CEO Joe Lacob stated, “Mark Jackson has had a big impact on the improvement of our team and the success that we’ve had over the last couple of years.” Nevertheless, we have to make some challenging choices on a daily basis.

Following his firing, Jackson posted the following tweets:

Jackson, 49, still has one year left on his deal. Jackson was slated to receive a base salary of almost $2 million for the 2014–15 season, but the Warriors exercised their option to pay him that amount before the season began. Jackson’s assistant coach responsibilities have all been eased by Golden State, according to Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group.
