Even in a challenging 6-11 season where Jones, Tyrod Taylor, and Tommy DeVito all saw action as quarterback, he lived up to the hype. Even so, Barkley ran for 962 yards and six touchdowns, two of which came in the final game of the regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nick Falato of SB Nation’s Big Blue View highlighted one of Barkley’s scores, which he scored by using strength and speed to get past an unblocked opponent.

A great running back can make a play like this appear simple. Barkley’s top-tier skills were only thought to be worth a one-year, cap-style contract by the Giants this season, but he will have plenty of suitors prepared to pay more on the veteran market.

The Dallas Cowboys, who compete in the NFC East, may be one of those suitors. Cole Beasley, a former wide receiver with the Giants, is in favor of Barkley moving to AT&T Stadium.

Barkley’s double-season schedule would be a harsh penalty for the Giants, who are trying to save money on free agents. They would also be missing a skill-position player who rival defenses are afraid of.
