chicago key player Justin Fields was injured due to….
According to reports, Fields won’t need surgery anytime soon. Before going back, he needs to strengthen his grip.
On Sunday, the Bears found it difficult to move the ball quickly against the NFC North rival Vikings. Midway through the third quarter, undrafted rookie backup quarterbackn Tyson Baget took over for Chicago when quarterback Justin Fields left the game due to injury. Due to a throwing hand injury, the team decided he would not be able to play the remainder of the game.
Fields’ dislocated thumb was confirmed on Monday by head coach Matt Eberflus, who also stated that Fields is unlikely to participate in Week 7 when the team hosts the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Fields’ potential return date to the field was not specified by Eberflus, who only said that “it’s really going to come down to grip strength.”
Not a surgical procedure is according to NFL Media, Fields’ recovery is expected to be quick in order to strengthen his grasp and enable him to return to the field as soon as possible. Should Fields require surgery, his absence would be permanent.
When Fields went down hard at the conclusion of a rushing attempt toward the sideline, he had only completed six of ten throws for 58 yards and an interception, trailing 12–6. The next play saw him stay on the field, but he took a while to stand up following a scramble and pass.
Fields had been on a roll lately, having thrown eight touchdown passes in the previous two Chicago games combined. Before leaving Sunday’s Week 6 game, which the Vikings won 19-13, he also led the Bears in rushing with eight carries for 46 yards.
Undrafted out of Shepherd University’s Division II, Bagent defeated seasoned backup P.J. Walker to win Chicago’s starting backup position during the preseason. Due to Nathan Peterman’s injury as a reserve, he was the only other active quarterback for the Bears on Sunday. Fields mishandled the ball on his first series after taking Fields’ place; the Vikings recovered and scored on a touchdown to take a 19-6 lead. After a brief lull, he concluded his 10 of 14 passing attempts for 83 yards and also threw an interception to Byron Murphy Jr. of Minnesota at the two-minute warning, which turned out to be Chicago’s last possession of the game.
