Upon trading Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat…

Kyle Lowry was able to play for a rival team after the Miami Heat moved him to the Charlotte Hornets. The Orlando Magic, the Heat’s division opponent, is one potential destination. Matt Moore of the Action Network stated that the Magic had expressed interest in several point guards, including Lowry.

In a piece published on February 3, Moore stated, “Orlando has thrown around every possible option on the table, and the latest interest involves two veterans: Kyle Lowry and Chris Paul, according to sources.”

Moore went on to say that if Lowry wishes to play for the Magic past the 2023–24 season, they might make a deal akin to that.

If Lowry is happy to stay in Orlando, the Magic are in a unique position to convey assets they are prepared to deal with. It might give the Magic a means of bringing in a seasoned player while they search for long-term solutions there, even if those solutions end involve giving Markelle Fultz a large contract extension.

The Magic are trying to get to the playoffs. The Magic are the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26–23. They would gain invaluable postseason experience from Lowry.

Kyle Lowry May Go to Sixers If Waived: Report After the Heat traded Kyle Lowry, Yahoo Sports! Jake Fischer reported that Lowry could hit the buyout market if the Hornets don’t trade him. “Lowry being dealt to Charlotte adds another name to the field of backcourt players available,” Fischer wrote in a January 26 story. “He’s a potential re-trade candidate for the Hornets, sources said, but also as a potential player on the buyout market should Charlotte not find a deal for the veteran floor general.” If the Hornets buy out Lowry, Fischer reported that the Sixers may swoop in to sign him.

“At that point, Philadelphia, where the Sixers stand as one of the few teams below the first luxury tax bracket and capable of signing a player who was bought out from a contract pricier than this year’s mid-level exception ($12.4 million), currently appears to be a real possibility.”

Moore noted that although the tone was the same, it was before to Joel Embiid’s likely season-ending injury.

The Lakers’ season hasn’t gone well. The Lakers are 26-25 after an unexpected run to the Western Conference Finals. Although he’s not the same player as he was in his prime with the Toronto Raptors, Lowry would give them additional guard depth.
