LEEDS UNITED GIVE Defender Liam Cooper SUSPENSION WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT

Leeds defender Liam Cooper given six-game ban for stamp on Reading defender Reece Oxford | Football News | Sky Sports

Liam Cooper of Leeds United will face an immediate six-match suspension after an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

The defender was charged with violent conduct in connection with an incident that occurred on Saturday, April 1, 2017, in or around the 74th minute of the match versus Reading. The event was captured on camera but was not witnessed by the match officials at the time.

The FA further asserted that the customary penalty that would otherwise be imposed for the misbehavior would be “clearly insufficient.”

The player acknowledged the accusation but refuted it. But that was confirmed to be the case, and he was suspended for a total of six matches—plus an extra match because it was his second dismissal of the year.

Liam Cooper has been ruled out of all but one of Leeds United’s remaining Championship fixtures after being hit with a SIX-game ban by the Football Association.
