The Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues will square off in the well-known outdoor game, which takes place right in the heart of The Friendly Confines on an ice rink.

WRIGLEYVILLE — Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Blackhawks, will play host to the NHL Winter Classic the following season.

The Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues will play the well-liked outdoor game during the 2024–25 season, with an ice rink located right in the midst of The Friendly Confines, according to a source.

According to NHL records, the Blackhawks are hosting the Winter Classic for the third time and participating for the fifth time. The game’s date has not yet been revealed. The Winter Classic at Wrigley was first announced on Tuesday by The Sun-Times.

The Red Wings defeated the Blackhawks in the second-ever Winter Classic game, which took place at Wrigley Field on New Year’s Eve 2009 in front of over 40,000 fans, despite the bitter cold.

Fans wrapped in blankets. According to the Associated Press, scores from all around the NHL were displayed on the famous Wrigley scoreboard.

Despite being in the midst of yet another losing season, the Blackhawks have generated a lot of excitement around the country and locally with the signing of 18-year-old Connor Bedard, the first overall draft pick who is seen as the next big thing in professional hockey.

After Fenway Park in Boston, Wrigley Field will be the second location to host the Winter Classic twice.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres played their first game at “The Ralph,” home of the Buffalo Bills, in 2008.
