Iowa's LeVar Woods among ESPN's names to know for the next wave of head coaching jobs

News: Iowa’s LeVar Woods has been one of the most successful special teams coordinators in the country over the last couple of years and has been a staple in the Hawkeyes having one of the most consistent units nationally.

On Tuesday, a report from the official Tampa Bay Buccaneers website came out with a report that Woods interviewed for the special teams coordinator job with the Bucs.

“On Tuesday, the Buccaneers announced that they had conducted a virtual interview with LeVar Woods, who is currently the special teams coordinator at the University of Iowa,” via Buccaneers.com Earlier in the day, the team had also confirmed interviews with Saints Assistant Special Teams Coordinator Phil Galiano and former Seahawks Special Teams Coordinator Larry Izzo.

Per Buccaneers.com, Woods is one of the five candidates who have interviewed for the special teams coordinator job with Tampa Bay, who will be replacing Keith Armstrong, who recently retired from the position.

What it means: Woods is one of the most successful special teams coordinators in college football and he deserves every opportunity that comes his way. A common reason that coaches interview for other positions is because of leverage, as well as interest. We don’t know enough about Woods’ interest in the Tampa Bay job if it were to come open, but we do know that he is of interest to Tampa Bay and that is notable. Woods has expressed in the past that he has been happy at Iowa, but it has also seemed like he’s not afraid to take on another opportunity if it were to come his way. That’s from reading the tea leaves, and this could potentially be a situation to monitor over the next couple of months with Woods and other potential jobs.

Tom Brady has Gisele Bundchen’s full support in his return to the NFL out of retirement after the seven-time Super Bowl champion announced Sunday he would return for a 23rd season in 2022. Brady dropped multiple hints at a return prior to Sunday’s stunner, and the news comes after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were noticeably silent this week as the quarterback carousel brought explosive news elsewhere. While the Seahawks traded Russell Wilson, the Colts traded Carson Wentz and the Packers retained Aaron Rodgers, pending a final contract agreement, Tampa made no major moves.

“Here we go again! Let’s go lovvvey! Let’s go Bucs!,” Bundchen commented Brady’s Instagram post.

Both general manager Jason Licht and head coach Bruce Arians released statements following Brady’s “un-retirement” announcement. Both, as expected, are thrilled for the iconic quarterback to return.
