Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater recently retired, leading to former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton giving Bridgewater a unique compliment.
Longtime NFL quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, recently retired from the NFL. Earlier in the season, Bridgewater announced that the 2023 season would be his last in the NFL. Once his season officially ended, it was reported that Bridgewater will now be the head coach at his alma mater, Miami Northwestern Senior High School.
After being selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Bridgewater spent the next 10 seasons playing quarterback for seven different teams. During his 10-year career, Bridgewater had a two-year stint with the New Orleans Saints back in 2018 and 2019. Sean Payton, who was the coach of the Saints during Bridgewater’s time in New Orleans, recently spoke on Bridgewater’s decision to transition into coaching.
Payton told Pro Football Talk’s Peter King that the kids Bridgewater will be coaching have no idea how lucky they are. Payton referred to Bridgewater as one of his favorite players ever and one of the best leaders he ever witnessed. He went on to make an epic comparison, saying that Bridgewater is like Ferris Bueller— everyone just followed him.
