Luke Johnson of Nola.com reports that Ronald Curry, the quarterback coach of the New Orleans Saints, has conducted interviews for the post of offensive coordinator. After a number of changes last week, Curry is among the few offensive staff holdovers that remain.

After serving as the offensive coordinator for eighteen years, Pete Carmichael was let go. In addition to senior offensive assistant Bob Bicknell and wide receiver coach Kodi Burns having their contracts terminated, running back coach Joel Thomas left to take a similar role with the New York Giants.

Following those actions, the Saints have scheduled interviews with the quarterback coaches of the Bengals, Rams, Texans, and Bengals (Dan Pitcher), former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron of the Seahawks, 49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak, and 49ers quarterback coach Brian Griese. The only player who is not playing is Waldron, who on Monday accepted a job offer from the Chicago Bears.

Curry, 44, started working for the New Orleans organization in 2016. 2018 saw the promotion of him to WR coach after he was hired as a general offensive assistant initially. Curry has been the group’s quarterback coach since 2021. He was an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers in 2014 and 2015 before coming to the Saints.

Curry, a quarterback at North Carolina, was converted to a wide receiver when the Oakland Raiders selected him in the seventh round of the 2002 NFL Draft. Curry played for the Raiders for his entire seven-year NFL career, during which he caught 193 passes for 2,347 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The Saints finished ninth in points scored and 14th in total yardage during the previous campaign. Although they were only 21st in running yards, they were 11th in throwing productivity. QB Derek Carr, a ten-year veteran, was playing for the team for the first time.

Early on, Carr and the offense as a whole struggled. Throughout the final portion of

In 2021, the year that quarterback Drew Brees retired, Curry was elevated to the position of quarterback coach for the Saints. Six different quarterbacks have started for New Orleans in the 51 games since Brees’ retirement.
