Congratulations! The Baltimore Ravens made a very strong statement.
Chief Coach John Harrison
Statement made at the outset: “It was simply an incredible triumph. Congratulations to the Los Angeles Rams and our guys for making plays when they needed to be made. That football team is excellent. Sean McCVay had them guys primed for action. They were excellent football players. All of their players—[Aaron] Donald, [Matthew] Stafford, and the defense—performed excellent football throughout the entire match. It was a spirited victory.
The other thing I want to share with you is what we spoke this week with the team regarding the season and the idea that there are times in life when this is your moment. We are all going to be dead in five hundred years. We were not here five hundred years ago, so there’s a reason we’re here with these individuals at this moment. December is here, and it’s December time. Football in December has a special importance. It’s a warm-up for big things to come. With December football, you have to position yourself for what’s to come. Moreover, Advent is upon us.
Advent is a [word] from Latin.
“Adventos” is the Greek word for expectation and readiness for a great event, namely the arrival of our Savior and the celebration of the Christ, the Good News that transforms the world and transforms it forever.
It was really damn entertaining, didn’t our men put on an outstanding display of December football? I turned off the deal so no one could hear me as I was talking into the [headsets] to myself. After that, I just said, “Well, there is nothing you could do right now.” “You know, overtime and the end of the game football, it’s a players’ game,” I said, assuming I was speaking to God. The players own the game, and they’ll find a way to participate andcreate plays. Our men accomplished just that, and that’s how these games are won. That’s the incredible event—December football—that I’m discussing during this game in this stadium today. It was mountains and valleys, and I couldn’t be more proud of those guys. In that game, there were high points and low points. In December, our team plays the National Football League against a highly deserving opponent. They persevere through all the ups and downs and ultimately make the plays to win the game. Nothing is better than that as a coach. What inquiries do you have?”
Who informed you, during the festivities following the game, that
You had to go shake hands with Sean McVay, the coach of the opposition? (Mike Preston) “Let me tell you what occurred. I made my way all the way down there and attempted to join in on the festivities. It was happening quickly as I dove over the top of the pile and everything. I moved really quickly. I tripped and dropped my headset. I believe God likely reminded me—perhaps the Holy Spirit. I heard a small, quiet voice in my thoughts say, “You still need to go shake hands with my friend Sean [McVay].” I had nothing left when I ran back because my lactic acid had built up in my legs.” (laughing) “On the way back, I had a cramp, but he was kind enough to
to be patient with me, which I value.”
Football, as you say, is a players’ game. When a player like wide receiver Tylan Wallace makes the play that wins the game, what does it mean for the team? (Shawn Stepner) “You’re discussing incredible events, therefore I think that’s a really wonderful argument. The allure of football lies in that. The wonderful thing about football is that. It is the best team game ever. The guys in the locker room were ecstatic for Tylan Wallace. You’ll see the post-game celebration in the locker room, complete with players going bonkers and a ton of water splattering everywhere. You will understand exactly what I mean when you see it. That’s what it signifies, that very celebration.”
sr telected as theFor what reason was WRWhen wide receiver Devin Duvernay went down with an injury, Tylan Wallace was punt returneo take his place. (Bo Smolka) “We had Tyler Wallace. That was decided upon beforehand. That was the hierarchy, if you will. We did discuss Zay Flowers, the other person in there, and we even thought about putting Zay out there. However, Tylan is an experienced player who is a fourth-year student who has experienced it. We simply thought that he deserved it—it wasn’t a calculated decision. That was the moment he was ready. Did we really think he was going to bring it back to the home at this point? No, although I had assumed he would catch it and perhaps cause a guy to miss. You could see how difficult
