The head JUSTIN:coach of the Toronto Raptors was suspended by the NBA.

With two transactions under their belt, the Toronto Raptors emerged from the trade deadline. Spencer Dinwiddie was recently waived, while Dennis Schroder and Thad Young were given to the Brooklyn Nets in return. In return for Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji, the Utah Jazz received Otto Porter Jr., Kira Lewis Jr., and a very early first-round pick in 2024.

Toronto took advantage of the opportunity to assemble a more formidable long-term rotation with more picks. The Raptors want to keep Olynyk because of his effectiveness, passing, and veteran guidance. The front management has great expectations for what Agbaji, a 2022 lottery pick, can do with Toronto.

Although Scottie Barnes’ ability to play well with Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett in the starting lineup will determine the Raptors’ success, and the team isn’t attempting to contend for the playoffs with this acquisition, Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster both correctly concluded that their long-term depth chart needed to be updated.

The backup point guard position is still up in the air, but it is quite likely that Brown and Barnes together will be the team’s key performers for the duration of the season. Boucher and Nwora might square off in a 10-man rotation if Darko Rajakovic so chooses.

The Raptors need to fill at least one of their two available roster spaces within the next two weeks. One of those spots may be filled by converting Porter’s contract into a legitimate NBA deal, and Bobby Webster has previously stated that the team is exploring all options to do so.

Agbaji and Olynyk, who both serve as two-way wings and finishing big men, ought to have committed to rotational duties. Toronto is counting on another center with excellent passing abilities to keep the offense moving, but they also have faith in Agbaji’s abilities as a deep shooter and wing stopper.

Trent made it through the deadline, so the Raptors’ starting lineup won’t change. Whether Agbaji and Olynyk can improve this team’s viability this year or next is yet to be determined.
