Super Bowl winner: "The 49ers struck oil with Brock Purdy"

With Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers struck gold.

They were impressed with Purdy as a talent, but they held off on selecting the quarterback until the very last round in the 2022 draft. Even in that case, the decision to sign Purdy as an undrafted free agent was mostly motivated by the desire to avoid losing out to a rival team.

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was asked if he was surprised by Purdy’s play during an appearance on Colin Cowherd’s The Herd Show.

“You have to be, they hit the oil,” Edelman answered. “With ‘Mr. Irrelevant,’ the late-round selection Watching Brock Purdy play shows you how he thinks about the game. He never shows signs of showing off, double-clutch. He is aware of his intended path with the ball and    That is evidence of Kyle Shanahan’s skill as a play-caller, of Brock’s comfort level, and of Brock’s willingness to execute.

“Like, when I went out and watched these guys in the preseason, I was a little worried about his arm strength because, having recently suffered a UCL tear, he was having difficulty extending it.” What does Kyle Shanahan accomplish? He provides throws and plays that he is confident he can make. He also doesn’t currently need to play anything other than their game due of their talent. All he needs to do is deliver the football.

Edleman is well acquainted with the appearance of striking oil. He was a member of the Patriots that struck gold when they took Tom Brady with the 199th selection in the 2000 NFL Draft; after all, he won three Super Bowls.

In the second week of his rookie year, Brady took over at quarterback for New England after starter Drew Bledsoe was sidelined by an injury. In his nine trips to the big game, he would go on to lead the Patriots to six Super Bowl victories.

smashing records

The 49ers broke the record for the most straight regular season games in which they scored at least thirty points when they defeated the Giants 30–12 on Thursday night.

scored 30 points or more in six straight games during the regular season, dating back to the previous campaign. This shattered the previous record of five, which was set in 1992 by George Seifert and Steve Young and in 1984 by Bill Walsh and Joe Montana.

at last has his guy
