Chargers News: Saquon Barkley Says He Would Like to Play for the Bolts Next Season

The Jim Harbaugh effect appears to be already helping the Los Angeles Chargers. With Harbaugh in as coach, the Chargers are expected to become a more attractive destination for free agents.

One player who has already expressed being open to joining the Chargers is New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who is slated to become a free agent in March.

Barkley cited Harbaugh and his prior success as a reason that the Chargers would not be a bad landing spot for him.

“I have nothing but respect for Coach Harbaugh, obviously the success he had in the NFL before, playing against him in college,” Barkley told Kay Adams. “If the opportunity were to present itself, I definitely wouldn’t be against it.

The 2023 NFL season is offically over with the Los Angeles Chargers AFC West rival, Kansas City Chiefs, taking home the Super Bowl trophy once again. However, with the Chiefs claiming the title, that means they will host the opening game of the new NFL season coming up.

Within this, the Bolts become an option to play against the Chiefs on opening night in the fall. They have to travel to Kansas City at some point next season, and the NFL could make a spectacle out of this matchup.

With new head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers are going to be one of the more hyped teams across the NFL. What better way than to introduce Harbaugh back into the league than to send him to play the defending champions to kick off the season?

The Chiefs and Chargers typically put together strong matchups whenever they play, making it a ratings juggernaut. The storyline leading up to the game would be incredible and would be a strong test for the Bolts to open the year.
