LeBron James made fun of Knicks supporters during the Lakers’ yearly trip to Madison Square Garden a week ago. His postgame Knicks towel drape over his shoulders, his shoe selection, and his social media engagement all demonstrated his commitment to the bit. Stephen A. was persuaded to trade for the all-time great by this evidence alone.

The Lakers didn’t return LeBron’s call if his goal was to deliver a message to LA’s front staff in the days leading up to the trade deadline. Thursday passed and no deal was made by Los Angeles. In his post-game defense, Rob Pelinka said that the Lakers would have three tradable first-round selections in the offseason instead of just the one they have now.

Looking to the future, LA made a wise decision with that move. On LeBron’s future, though, the Lakers’ choice to hold steady may signal the end of the 39-year-old’s stay in Los Angeles during the summer.

It would be prudent for him to exercise his $51.4 million player option for 2024–2025; but, he has the option to decline it and become a free agent. NBA analyst Marc Stein stated that a few clubs believe they will have a chance to acquire LeBron if that were to occur (subscription needed).

Before he retires, LeBron has stated that he would like to play with Bronny on the floor. If he declares, his 19-year-old son, who is in his freshman season at USC, is expected to be selected in the second round of the selection.

After suffering a heart attack in July, Bronny was amazingly able to resume his basketball activities in November. That has naturally affected his first season as a Trojan, thus Bronny returning to USC in 2024–2025 wouldn’t be shocking.

The youthful guard is shooting 35.6% from the field and averaging 5.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. He won’t have an instant influence on whatever club picks him if he joins the 2024 draft. All would change if Bronny’s father chose to accompany him.

The Knicks should reevaluate their position if they are among the clubs who believe they can persuade LeBron to join with them because they intend to pick Bronny. Bronny will have an even harder time getting Tom Thibodeau’s attention given how difficult it is for rookies selected in the first round. Most of his time would be spent in Westchester.

Would LeBron’s affiliation with the same team as Bronny be sufficient? There’sThere was very little possibility that he and Bronny would play together at MSG, but it may happen during garbage time.

If LeBron wasn’t willing to accept a wage reduction, New York’s front office wouldn’t be doing its homework, but the Knicks shouldn’t take a chance on a Bronny-LeBron tandem even if he were.
