In the 2024 recruiting class, the Tennessee Volunteers selected Jake Merklinger, a four-star quarterback who went to Savannah, Georgia’s Calvary Day School. For his teammate, four-star wide receiver Thomas Blackshear, they are going back there in 2025. In the cycle, he is rated as the No. 307 prospect by 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. During his junior year, Blackshear hauled in 27 passes for 551 yards and five touchdowns. He is now only committed to Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee. In their 2025 class, Tennessee has had a great start to the football season on defense. They signed Shamar Arnoux, Dylan Lewis, and Tyler Redmond, three gifted corners from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. Four-star running back Justin Baker and tight end Jack VanDorselaer have also committed to the team. On the weekend of January 20, the coaching staff is organizing a junior day event that will draw a number of notable guests.
