The 2023 NFL season is over Raider have to get another Quarterback in 2024
The Raiders had three quarterbacks this season that were eligible to start: Brian Hoyer, Aidan O’Connell, a rookie, and Jimmy Garoppolo.
Groppolo was the Silver and Black’s starting quarterback going into the 2023–24 NFL regular season. With a Pro Football Focus rating of 65.0, a passing grade of 65.0, and a running grade of 58.8, he concluded the season with these stats.
In his first season with the Raiders, Garoppolo finished with a passer rating 77.7 with 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions in eight games.
After the 26-14 loss to the Detroit Lions, the Raiders made many decisions, including a change in the starting quarterback position and O’Connell took over as the starter for the remainder of the season.
O’Connell finished the season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 65.9, a pass grade of 64.6, and a run grade of 61.6. In his rookie season with the Silver and Black, O’Connell finished with a passer rating of 83.9 with 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 12 games.In Week 7 against the Chicago Bears, Hoyer, the backup quarterback for the Raiders, also got the opportunity to start as quarterback this season. Hoyer had a Pro Football Focus grade of 55.2, a pass grade of 54.6, and a run grade of 60.5 at the end of the season.
Hoyer completed his first campaign with the Silver and Black with a 50.8 passing rating, 231 yards, and two interceptions in seven Raiders games.
Questions will need to be answered this offseason on who the starting quarterback for the Raiders is next season.
