In free agency, the Giants may seek two seasoned quarterbacks.

Joe Schoen, general manager of the New York Giants, stated a few weeks ago that the team will be actively seeking to add a quarterback, either through the draft or free agency.

The Giants will be searching for a supplement behind Daniel Jones as Tyrod Taylor’s contract is about to expire. If they are unable to choose a top quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, they may have to settle with an experienced veteran at a fair price.

There is a large pool of quarterback free agents, particularly when it comes to depth players. The Giants may be interested in Mitchell Trubisky, Jacoby Brissett, and a host of other players. But let’s look at two that could be reasonable at this low cost.

In Week 2, Joshua Dobbs showed the Giants what he was made of by passing for 228 yards and a score. Even though the Arizona Cardinals lost that game, Dobbs caused the Giants’ defense a great deal of trouble by gaining an extra 41 yards and a touchdown on the run.

Although it was by far his finest performance of the year, he is a capable passer who struggled with consistency much of the season. After Kirk Cousins injured, he was finally acquired by the Minnesota Vikings. He started a number of games before being benched because, well, he’s a backup.

But Dobbs would be an inexpensive addition, and head coach Brian Daboll could be able to make the most of his skill set in a scheme that needs a mobile quarterback.

2.) Minshew, Gardner

The 28-year-old Gardner Minshew, a former sixth-round selection who played the whole 2017 season with the Indianapolis Colts, is the next option on the roster. When Anthony Richardson, a first-round pick, sustained a season-ending injury, Minshew took over immediately.

With 3,305 throwing yards at the end of the season, Minshew threw nine interceptions and fifteen touchdowns. According to PFF, he had a 62.2% completion percentage and a 3.8% play-worthy turnover rate. He had 34 sacks and an adjusted completion rate of 74.2%.

Assessing Experience and Fit
With five seasons of experience, three of which were starting roles, Minshew is a seasoned player.
