After the season, one player from the Warriors will depart.
Klay Thompson had a phenomenal game for the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night, scoring 35 points off the bench and looking like his regular self again.
But despite that great game, some people feel that his time with Golden State is coming to an end.
Speaking on “Undisputed,” Michael Irvin stated that he believes Thompson will not be playing for the Warriors next year.He said that the recent rumors about the team trying to land LeBron James is proof of that.“When I heard about the LeBron to Golden State situation, I knew Klay’s situation was over,” Irvin said, adding that while the rumors talked about James playing with Stephen Curry, none of them mentioned him playing with Curry and Thompson.
Even before the season started, the future between Thompson and the Warriors looked murky.
The two sides failed to create a contract extension and most people agreed that a lot was riding on the season ahead.
If Thompson played well, he would probably be given a max contract from the team. If not, he’d have to accept something less.
Of course, everyone knows that Thompson has had arguably the worst season of his career, which means that his contract negotiations have fizzled and there is a lot of speculation that he might not even be with the Warriors in 2024-25.
