Since the start of the NFL season, Josh Edwards and Chris Trapasso, two analysts on CBS Sports, have been doing weekly mock drafts. Ryan Wilson, a draft insider, has completed many of his own. It’s about time I made my own mock because the NFL Scouting Combine begins in less than two weeks and the Kansas City Chiefs were just declared Super Bowl winners.

Beginning this Friday, there will be many versions released every other Friday until the Chicago Bears have the first overall choice in the draft, along with one the week of the draft. Many of these prospects are from your favorite club; of course, a lot may alter depending on the combine, free agency, pro days, etc.

“With the First Pick” is our year-round NFL Draft podcast, where former Vikings general manager Rick Spielman and NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson provide in-depth commentary twice a week. “With the First Pick” is available on all podcast platforms, including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and others. You would have to believe that the Commanders, who hired Kliff Kingsbury as offensive coordinator, would want to choose Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. But Chicago maintains its number one pick this year, selecting Williams in exchange for the explosive but unreliable Justin Fields.

It doesn’t follow that the Commanders are skipping on a quarterback just because they don’t get Caleb Williams. Washington chooses to pair Jayden Daniels with Kingsbury because the coach has expertise with dual-threat playmakers from his time as Kyler Murray’s coach at Arizona.

Though the Patriots desperately need a franchise quarterback, Marvin Harrison Jr. is very fascinating, and Drake Maye is deserving of a top-3 pick. In New England, the Jerod Mayo era starts with a rookie signal-caller.

The foundation of Jim Harbaugh’s teams is toughness, starting with the offensive and defensive lines in the trenches. With the pick of Penn State offensive lineman Olumuyiwa Fashanu, who has one of the highest ceilings in this class at his position due to his athletic abilities, the Chargers go more physical.
