Congratulations! What a striking declaration made by the Colorado avalanche

Updates for Game Day: Avs vs.

Following a brief intermission, the Red Wings will host one of the league’s most formidable offenses—or, depending on when you became a fan, a familiar opponent.

This month, the Colorado Avalanche had only three victories. While playing at home, they have been among the NHL’s greatest teams, but they have found it difficult to duplicate that performance away from home. Strangely enough, all five of Colorado’s losses in February have occurred away from home against opponents in the Eastern Conference. That will undoubtedly help Detroit, but Colorado’s strong lineup—which features Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar—must not be undervalued.

The Red Wings had a rough start to their west coast road trip last week, falling to the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers, but they turned things around with two big victories against the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames to close the swing in style.

Even after five games in February, Detroit is one of the NHL’s hottest teams. They are about to embark on a very difficult stretch of games: six of their next seven, including two vs the Avalanche, are against clubs that may make the playoffs. The Wings are four points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for third place in the Atlantic Division and now occupy the second Wild Card berth in the Eastern Conference.

Although Colorado isn’t as strong as they once were in the Western Conference, they are still the favorites to go far in the postseason. The Avs have won three straight after defeating the league-leading Vancouver Canucks 3-1 on Tuesday.are squarely in the middle of the Central Division competition after their previous four games. They are two points behind the Dallas Stars in the Central as of Thursday.
