Seniors Report Round 1: Panthers Edge Out Roosters

With both teams barely losing their away games against the Penrith Panthers, the Sydney Roosters Seniors had a promising start to the season.

Jersey Flegg Cup: Sydney Roosters 4 defeat, Penrith Panthers 14, in a low-scoring match

At St Marys League Stadium, the Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg team lost against the Penrith Panthers by a slim margin to begin the season. The game was low-scoring, with only four tries scored.

With a touchdown in the eighth minute and another in the twenty-third, Penrith had a 10-nil lead, the inexperienced Roosters letting their guard down.

The second stanza saw little action from either team for the most part. With just under ten minutes to go, the Panthers secured their victory when lock Hayden Barton scored a touchdown in the closing moments to represent his team.

This Sunday afternoon at 4 Pines Park, the Sydney Roosters’ Jersey Flegg team will play the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles before the NRL match.
