During Inter Miami’s victory over Montreal, Lionel Messi questioned the Major League Soccer (MLS) policy regarding injuries.

Lionel Messi has adapted to life in the United States quite well after coming here last summer. With his MLS appearances for Inter Miami, he hasn’t lost a beat. In just 11 games this season, the Argentine has contributed 23 goals. Following a few inconsistent seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, he is genuinely back to his best self in Florida.

He hasn’t immediately adapted to all parts of American football, though, and it hasn’t been easy sailing. That was evident during Saturday night’s Inter Miami game against CF Montreal when Messi was inadvertently in violation of one of the most peculiar rules in the league.

The Rule Involves Injuries

“The referee will halt play and wave the medical team onto the field to assess a player who has been down for more than 15 seconds and appears to be injured. The player will be taken off the field when it is safe to do so, and they will stay off the field for at least two minutes to receive additional evaluation and care.”
