After getting promoted with Crawley Town, Liam Kelly, a former midfielder for Reading FC, would play against his old team the following season.

Kelly, who was raised in Basingstoke, began his youth career with the Royals in 2004 and progressed through the development levels before making his debut in the main squad during the EFL Cup in August of 2016.

A few months later, he made his Championship debut away at Rotherham United. He went on to make 94 appearances for the Royals across all competitions, scoring nine goals.

He signed with Dutch team Feyenoord after leaving the club in 2019, however he only made two appearances in three years there.

During his loan stint at Oxford United, where he played 29 times in League One during the 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons, Kelly was able to regain his footing in English football.
